Quick size limits

1 KB = 1,000 bytes. The downloaded JPEG will be at or below this limit.

Image compression questions

How do I compress an image to 100 KB?

Choose your JPG, PNG or WebP, select 100 KB, then click Compress image. Inspect the JPEG preview and its actual byte size before downloading. The same steps work for 50, 200, 500 KB or a custom whole-number limit.

Will the file be exactly the size I select?

The selected size is a maximum, not a padding target. The JPEG will be at or below it; simple images may be much smaller. We use 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, so a 100 KB limit means at most 100,000 bytes.

What if the image cannot fit the limit?

The tool changes JPEG quality without secretly changing dimensions. If the image still does not fit, no download is offered. Reduce the maximum dimensions or increase the KB limit, then compress again.

Does Puppetry upload or store my image?

No. Image processing and download happen on your device. Tool analytics contain only the tool and output type, not image pixels or source filenames. The Studio link does not transfer your image.

Can I keep transparency or use an animated image?

The output is a still JPEG, so transparent areas become white. Animated PNG and WebP files are rejected, as are GIF, HEIC and SVG. Choose a still JPG, PNG or WebP instead.

Does this make a passport or OCI photo compliant?

This tool controls file size and optional maximum dimensions only. It does not check composition or official application requirements. Use the dedicated passport or OCI tool for those formats and review the official guidance.
